This book "Secrets To Successful Aquaponics Farming" was written based on our real hands experience since 2010.

We've not only built commercial systems in South Africa, but have built many backyard system for a variety of customers. We have also presented training courses in Namibia, Lesotho and Mozambique.

Note therefore that our experience in Aquaponics as reflected in this book, is based on building and operating aquaponics systems in Southern Africa, particularly in Johannesburg. Johannesburg is 1800m above sea level, warm in summer (highs of 35°C) and cold in winter (lows of -1°C at night). We dont get harsh winters with snow as experienced in the Northern hemisphere, though it does snow a little every 10 years or so. So if you are in the Northern Hemisphere, you would have to adapt the greenhouse to your locations weather conditions. Keeping the water warm for the fish will be the biggest challenge. Some of the fish you mention in the book, may also not be indigenous in your country. Tilapia Rendalli for example, is in our opinion, the best fish in the world for aquaponics.

Aquaponics is not the miracle system that many YouTube videos claim it to be. It is a complex system, based on science. Remember, there are 3 living forms that you need to take care of. The Fish, the Beneficial Bacteria and the Plants.. Each one of them has specific requirements. If you get it wrong during the initial design phase, you will probably fail.

But don't worry, that is why we decided to write the book, so that you have a good reference resource on what to do and what not to do.. We do not sugar coat anything. Most of the photos in this 150 page book, are from our own aquaponics system, or from systems we have built for our customers.

We cover everything in a logically formatted sequence, to avoid any confusion. We start with the basic nitrification cycle, water quality, system design and sizing (for both DIY backyard systems and commercial systems) , beneficial bacteria and their importance, the fish and the plants.

That is not all, we supply recommendations for maintenance schedules and what to monitor for your income and expenditure calculations.

We show lots of photos and illustrations in the book, to try and simplify the concept.

Our idea is to get more people farming for themselves so that they are food independent. Its the biggest freedom you can generate for yourself.

The book is structured so that you don't have to read it from the beginning to the end in one go. Of course if you want to do that, then nothing wrong. If not then just read the chapters or sections of interest.

If you are serious about getting into aquaponics and want to avoid the mistakes we have made over the years, and thus save a lot of money and time, then "Secrets To Successful Aquaponics Farming" is for you.

It doesn't matter if you're a beginner, or have aspirations of doing it commercially. All the info you require is in the book.

Read it, and then get started building your own system and growing your own food for food security for you and your family.
